I'm not a bike messenger, let's just get that out of the way. But, regardless, if you spend any time on a bike you want to wear something comfortable that complements what you're doing.... sitting and pedalling...Chrome Industries is dedicated to this pursuit.... we don't all want those skin-tight racing bike shorts, which are impractical and look goofy, and are only good for one thing. ...Chrome's shorts are what you might wish Dickies shorts would be. Durable but comfortable. Water resistant but not dorky. And designed with small touches that help the urban cyclist. The way the seams are done in the inner leg area prevents rubbing entirely, which is awesome. The wide black strap across the back is another VERY specific bike-related feature: you can stow your U-lock while in transit, and unholster it quickly when reaching your destination. I keep my lock on a mount on the bike's frame, so I won't use this feature, probably.Note that this is an 11" inseam, a full 3" shorter than their Union style shorts, so even when standing, the hem sits above the knee. The 14" Union is more my style of "casual" short, as nobody wants to see my knees... and generally speaking this Folsom short is a touch on the tight side.... but for riding and other physical activity, the 11" inseam is ideal: it's not restrictive, but it's not so short it feels like you're at center court at the US Open in 1982.Machine wash cold, tumble dry low and these shorts are going to last you. If you don't mind the price tag, these (or others from Chrome Industries) are well worth picking up. 4.5 stars. And you get a cool sticker.
