The chamois is very good and chaffing free for very long rides but the fit of the shorts is not to my shape I think. The L is toooo tight specially in the legs but also every where else; the XL is very tight in the upper legs but feels loose in the lower leg, the rest feels a bit large and the chamois is positioned very much forward giving you the impression that your butt will be uncovered when seating in the saddle, hard to explain but doesn't feel right. Back to the L which feels more correct in ergonomic but still uncomfortably tight so it is hard to say, I have both sizes but can't really feel comfortable in both. Very expensive shorts to be half satisfied. I have used cheap shorts in the past that were doing a very similar job avoiding chaffing and discomfort in long rides and yet they fit me better than this one. Honestly I cannot recommend them unless you try and really feel it fits your shape than the rest is sorted. For your reference I am 5'8 (1.73m) 178 lbs (81kg) and well distributed weight but I feel like the shorts is designed for longer/skinnier shapeI have 4 of these bike shorts, and they are my all-time favorites.Pros:• There is no draw-string• The stitching and fabric quality is better than cheaper shorts by Pear IzumiCons:• None. These shorts are perfect for me. If you bike a lot, it's worth getting the "Pro" shortsI trust Pearl Izumi to make superior products at reasonable prices. These shorts are close to perfect. My only issue is the elastic at the bottom of the leg portion; they're just a bit tighter than I have experienced with other Pearl shorts. Perhaps it's my "sprinter's physique." The padding is excellent. These quickly became my favorite ride shorts for longer distance rides. You can't find a more comfortable chamois anywhere. The fit seems a little tight for my legs, I'm 6'2" and around 192 pounds but the large fits my legs snugly. If you have big legs you might want to go a size bigger. My other Pearl Izumi shorts, (elite) fit me great in a large so I'm not sure why these are tighter.Over the years Pearl Izumi has produced a top quality short. The Pro In-R-Cool short has been the top of the line for a few years now and still is great. The 4D pad is dense enough to absorb shock and thin enough so it doesn't feel like a diaper. I think it is the best short for the money. My favorite shorts. I purchased 5 pairs at a good price from Amazon since I go riding every day. They are super comfortable and well worth the extra money by buying the PRO version. Pearl Izumi makes great stuff and I recommend these shorts to serious bikers.I've owned several pairs of Pearl Izumi bike shorts over the past 6 years. The earlier models had a draw string for the waist, which was less comfortable. These are elastic-only wastes, and they stay up and fit very comfortably.I've ridden 100+ mile days several times with these -- perfect! They fit and are comfortable. I have owned other cycling/spin pants and these are much more comfortable and fit better. They also look great with fun colors
